Shanghai Suzy is a lipstick only, seasonal cosmetics brand. By seasonal, we mean that each lipstick released is limited edition and only available for that season, until the new season collection comes out.
The benefit of Shanghai Suzy is that the brand provides high fashion, vibrant colours at affordable prices. And that was the inspiration behind the founder Joanna French‘s creation of the company. As a cosmetics marketing executive, Joanna was tired of paying big bucks for on-trend lipsticks that she would only wear a few times. So she created a company that allowed consumers to follow trends and continue to update their lipstick wardrobe without breaking the bank.
Shanghai Suzy lipsticks come in three formulas: matte, nourish, and shimmer. As the brand describes:
The ‘Matte’ formula is thick, creamy and long-lasting, and the ‘Nourish’ formula contains jojoba seed oil and Vitamin E to care for and moisturise lips whilst delivering a beautiful subtle colour with a slight sheen. The new ‘Shimmer’ formula emulates sparkling lips straight off the catwalk, it’s completely buildable for a subtle shimmer or a full coverage, full impact sparkling look.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics has become an absolute staple brand here at Raptcha’u Hair & Beauty.
The brand was started by Pauline Youngblood, whom at the time was a paramedical aesthetician to dermatologists and plastic surgeons. Pauline’s patients would have extreme redness or raw skin due to harsh laser treatments, peels, acne, rosacea or cosmetic procedures. She wanted to provide them with a makeup that was safe to apply over skin whilst it was healing, and yet would still provide adequate coverage to hide the rawness or discolouration. So she developed the now ever-popular Loose Mineral Foundation.
Pauline’s patients ended up loving the mineral foundation so much that they were wearing it even after their skin had healed. And so in 1996 Pauline began commercially selling the foundation, thus beginning Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.
All Youngblood products are solely made from the earth’s minerals, and are non-comedogenic, meaning they won’t clog the pores. The range is now extremely extensive and though the Loose Mineral Foundation remains Raptcha’u’s most popular selling product, there are a multitude of products to choose from. The products are suitable for any aged skin or skin type, and the exclusion of Zinc Oxide and Talc from the ingredients of each product mean that even more mature or dryer skin types will have success with Youngblood.
Many years of stocking Youngblood have solidified it as Raptcha’u’s most trusted brand, and it is the only makeup brand we fully retail to our clients and use in our makeup applications on clients. New products are constantly being added to the line, which keeps the brand fresh and exciting. Welcome to the inaugural blog post on the brand, spanking new Raptcha’u Hair & Beauty website!!!
We are so proud of our new website, which provides, among other things, the ability for us to communicate with all our lovely clients and readers through this blog.
Through this blog, we are now able to communicate with our clients on a more personal level. So in addition to our monthly newsletters (which you will also find here on our website), you can expect to hear about tips, tricks, hair/beauty information, salon updates and new product releases on a more regular basis. You can subscribe to the blog to ensure you never miss a Raptcha’u update again!
The website also contains an e-store, where you can now buy online all the products that you know and love from the Raptcha’u salon. So from now on if you run out of your favourite Youngblood foundation on a Sunday morning, you can head online and order it straight away before you forget! Gift vouchers can also be purchased online, hopefully making your Christmas shopping this year super easy while still allowing you to support a locally owned and operated business.
